Senior Living Malaysia

About

An independent directory, built for real decisions.

Senior Living Malaysia is a directory and matching service for senior living options across Malaysia — serving Malaysian families and Singaporean families exploring care across the causeway.

DoKheng Tan

Founder, Senior Living Malaysia

I'm a Singaporean who started Senior Living Malaysia after watching my own family struggle to make sense of nursing-home options across the causeway. The information was scattered, the marketing language opaque, and the gap between what families needed and what was published online was wide enough that even careful researchers ended up making decisions on incomplete information.

This directory is the resource I wish had existed: a single place to compare honestly, with verification methodology you can audit, and editorial that takes the questions families actually ask seriously. I write the guides, verify the listings, and reply to enquiries personally. There is no faceless team behind this — just me, currently recruiting a medical advisory panel to review the clinical content.

Reach me directly at dk@seniorlivingmalaysia.org or on WhatsApp. I read everything that comes in.

What we do

We list nursing homes, assisted living, retirement communities, and dementia care centers across Malaysia — compiled from public information. Families can browse the directory, filter by state and care type, and request a personalised shortlist.

When families use our matching service, we connect them with homes that fit their needs. The directory, the guides, and a starting shortlist are free for every family. We also offer a paid Priority service for families who need it done faster and in more depth — that one is optional, and nothing in the free service is held back to sell it.

How we stay independent

Listings are compiled from public sources — the home's own website, social media pages, and public registries like JKM. Homes don't pay to be listed, and we don't rank by who pays us. If we ever offer paid featured placement, it will be clearly labelled as such and will never change your personalised match results. The full per-field verification methodology — how licensing, pricing, photos, and contact details are sourced and what we tag unknown rather than guessing — is documented on our how we verify page.

Some homes work with us as partners — they pay us a referral fee when a family we match ultimately moves in. Partner listings are marked clearly. Partnership status never changes whether a home appears in search results or the order they appear; it only changes whether we receive a fee if you choose that home.

We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or in any way operating on behalf of the homes we list, unless explicitly marked as a partner.

How we make money

Our directory, our guides, and a starting shortlist are free for families, and always will be. You will never be charged for browsing this site or for asking us a question.

Since August 2026 we also offer Priority, a paid service for families who need the search done faster and in more depth. It is entirely optional, we tell you before you pay whether we think we can actually help, and nothing about it changes which homes we recommend to anyone. If you are ever asked to pay for anything else in our name, it is not us.

Some partner homes pay us a referral fee, but only if a family we introduce actually moves in. They do not pay us for passing on an enquiry. Non-partner homes pay us nothing — they're listed because the information is publicly available and useful to families, and partner status does not decide which homes we suggest or the order we list them in.

Whatever a partner home pays us comes from their existing budget. It is not added to your bill. Families who find a partner home through us pay the same fees as families who walk in off the street.

We have no incentive to send you to homes that don't fit. A bad match wastes everyone's time and damages our reputation with both families and operators. Our shortlists are built around your needs, not who's paying.

Medical advisory panel

Eldercare is "Your Money or Your Life" content — Google rewards anonymous health writing structurally, and families relying on it deserve better. We're recruiting Malaysian geriatricians, registered nurses, social workers, and palliative-care specialists to review the guides on this site before publication. Reviewers get a named byline with their credential; the time commitment is under 2 hours per quarter.

Read the programme description if you're a clinician interested in reviewing, or know someone who might be.

Why this exists

Choosing a senior living home is one of the hardest decisions a family makes — and the information to make it well is scattered, outdated, or written in marketing language. Families end up calling a dozen homes, collecting inconsistent quotes, and visiting places that don't fit.

We built this to make the first cut easier: a single place to compare honestly, and a way to get a relevant shortlist without having to become an expert first.

Run a home? Want to update a listing?

If you operate a senior living home and want to correct, update, or add your listing — or discuss a partnership — drop us a message below. We'll review and update within a few working days.

Or reach us on WhatsApp or hello@seniorlivingmalaysia.org.

Nothing on this site is medical advice. Always verify fees, licensing, and care arrangements directly with the home before committing.
