Rumah Sejahtera Alor Sena

Kangar, Perlis

Rumah Sejahtera welfare home in Kangar, Perlis, on the Majlis Pusat Kebajikan SeMalaysia register. A first-hand report in August 2026 says it no longer takes residents and now operates as a day activity centre - unconfirmed, so contact them before relying on it.

FIRST-HAND REPORT, 28 AUGUST 2026: NO LONGER TAKING RESIDENTS

A member of the public who visited in person told us this home no longer offers placements. In his words, JKM has turned it into an activity centre for seniors by day only, and the people who had been living there were transferred to Rumah Seri Kenangan.

We have not confirmed this with MPKSM or JKM, and it is a single unofficial source, so we have not changed the care type on this page. But it directly contradicts what the MPKSM register implies, and the consequence of being wrong falls on a family. Do not travel here expecting a bed without speaking to someone first. We have asked MPKSM head office and will update this page when they answer. Rumah Sejahtera Alor Sena is a Rumah Sejahtera welfare home in Kangar, Perlis.

Listed on the official register of Rumah / Pondok Sejahtera published by Majlis Pusat Kebajikan SeMalaysia (MPKSM), the body that runs roughly 63 such homes across Peninsular Malaysia, a network founded in 1951. MPKSM is not the JKM licensed-care-centre register, so this home’s JKM status is unknown to us and we make no licensing claim for it. We checked: it is not on the official JKM Pusat Jagaan Warga Emas register we hold (three Perlis homes, verified May 2026), and Alor Sena is not one of them.

Contact: MPKSM’s Perlis state contact is Setiausaha Kehormat Encik Abd Shukor bin Mohd Kassim, 04-976 0913 / 012-475 8680. ⚠️ As at August 2026 a member of the public reported the office line out of service and the mobile unanswered - so treat both as unverified.

MPKSM’s national head office is a better route: mpksmhq@yahoo.com, 03-2274 3714, No. 2A Lorong Syed Putra Kiri, Off Jalan Syed Putra, 50460 Kuala Lumpur. Their Perlis state branch is at Kompleks Penyayang Dr Siti Hasmah Jejawi, Jalan Jejawi Utan Buloh, 02600 Arau, Perlis (source: mpksm.org.my state-branch directory, checked 23 August 2026).

Who these homes are for

Rumah Sejahtera homes exist for elderly Malaysians with little or no income and, often, no family able to care for them. At a sister home in Negeri Sembilan the operator told us residents typically receive a JKM allowance of RM600 a month and contribute RM400 of it toward food and accommodation, keeping the balance for personal items. Terms vary by home and none of this is confirmed for this one - but it is the right question to ask, and the JKM allowance is usually the step that comes first.

We hold no rate, no availability and no confirmed care level for this home. The MPKSM table records a resident count, which indicates people live here rather than attending by day, but we have not confirmed that with the home. Contact them before relying on it.
